Feasibility Study 2013-2014

OBCCThe Town of Ossining has ordered a feasibility study to consider demolition of the historic Ossining Boat & Canoe Club building to bring a high-end restaurant to the public park on our waterfront. The study has not yet been completed.

The Town wants the "best use" of Ossining's public space and access to the river. Members of the Ossining Boat & Canoe Club maintain that it would be an irreversible disservice to our waterfront to give away our town's history in the name of generating revenue. Such a risk-inherent venture could be costly to our community, while pushing aside working class people of Ossining.

In July 2013, a short-term license denied winter storage of members' boats for the first time, and eliminated credits for building maintenance and improvements. In November 2013, a development plan was presented. No news is available since then.

OBCC Locked in November 2013 to March 2014.
But by agreement, code compliance was achieved. Read more...
